(If you opt to give this experiment a try, make sure to read the dry ice safe handling precautions as linked in the original post.)
We chose a clear cup (from our Magic Bullet) and filled it about third full of warm-hot water. While still in the bag, we broke the dry ice into chunks with a hammer (the sidewalk worked well for that) and then using tongs, placed one chunk into the water. The water accelerates the process of sublimation (the transition from a solid to a gas without a liquid state) of the dry ice causing the increased vapor activity. Coooool!
We explored and played with the vapor a bit...

and then added some dish soap...
We added more dry ice as needed. The girls loved the "screeching tongs"...
Pop!

We love it, too! We got it one year and did every experiment with it that I could find! :) So, so fun. Love that stuff!
So cool!
We just got some too :)
If you ever do this again, try rubbing your hands in the dish soap and making a film over the top of the container...it fills up like a crystal ball full of whirling gasses and then pops (or gets popped).
The expirement looked so cool. I especially loved the art work on your girls. Looks like it was an enjoyable day for them.
